Woe, Is Me vs. Issues

Today’s Topic: Woe, Is Me Vs. Issues

Now, I really like Woe, Is Me. Their album with the ORIGINAL members is absolutely amazing. Heavy, brutal, and keeps you begging for more. But between December 2010 and August 2011 the band suffered many line up changes. Leaving only Austin Thornton (Drums, programming) and  Kevin Hanson (ryhthm guitar) as the only two original members in the band.

Tyler Carter, Michael Bohn, Cory Ferris and Ben Ferris all left and created Issues. They are currently signed to Velocity Records, which is a subsidiary of Rise Records. Their debut album entitled “Black Diamonds” is set to release on on November 13, 2012.

Now, it’s easy to say that these two bands have both put out a song that disses the other band. But I want to declare a winner! So lets take a look at what they actually said.

Issues: King Of Amarillo:

“Get over yourself, they can see right through you
We are the future like no one ever knew you
Got the swag of a coward and the heart of a nemesis
If you don’t like these lyrics then go listen to Genesi[s]”

Okay, So it’s DEFINITELY a shot at Woe, Is Me or at least at Austin Thornton and Kevin Hanson. And it’s a pretty good shot too. They are saying that Woe, Is Me (or the 2 original members) are fake and their new band will make everyone forget about Woe, Is Me. On top of that They call them cowards. The last line, however, I feel like that is directed to the fans. basically saying If you don’t like our new band FUCK OFF! And for that last line, I respect the living shit out of Tyler Carter and Issues.

Don’t be too quick though!! Woe, Is Me fired right back with

“I’ve Told You Once”

“I’ve told you once & I’ll tell you twice, that everything comes with a price
Well you rolled the dice & now tough luck kid
We’re all pissed off, with no fucks to give!
‘Cause you say that we’re cowards and that we’re the ones to blame,
But we’re one in a million and you’re all the fucking same
You’re so proud of the one-liners you wrote
It must be hard to talk shit with a dick in your throat!”

Woe, Is Me is pissed but they kind of seem like they want to actually fight Issues. (Epic fight right there). They are basically saying that Issues (former members of Woe, Is Me) has made their bed and now they have to sleep in it. I kind of think that in this situation Woe, Is Me are being childish. It seems to me that they are more interested in trying to intimidate Issues and it’s not really working.

Now, lets get real here… we’re all wondering it. Who won this battle?

I’d have to say Issues took it with the mature route and I respect them for that. They said what they needed to and they did it in a way that got everyone’s attention. They just said that Woe, Is Me is their past and they are ready to move on and make great music and don’t care what people say.

I like Woe, Is Me, a lot, they are one of my favorite bands. Their music is still good, but the whole “It must be hard to talk shit with a dick in your throat” thing. Childish. flat out. I can understand you have bitter feelings for them but really? They couldn’t think of anything better than oh my suck dick!? Come on guys.

I just hope that both of these albums live up to the hype that has been produced from their respective singles.

And that’s all any of us can really hope for.

Issues- Black Diamonds EP available on November 13, 2012

Remember everyone! If you think I’m wrong, POST IT!! I want to hear what everyone has to say. Everyone listens to music and everyone has a voice!

Well till next time guys and gals

Subject: My Take

I totally agree that One, Tyler Carter's voice is just plain awesome, smexy, with a side of melt down beauty (obviously giving "Issues" a bit of an advantage), and Two, that "Issues" tackled their anger in a more tasteful manner than "Woe, Is Me" did.

When expressing anger publicly and in plain eye sight of the Media, or in the Music Industry's case, within ear shot of the public, it must be done in a tasteful manner. Reason being, ever your most dedicated listeners will lose shreds of respect for you each time they hear how low you went. I feel that I back "Issues" more so because of the professional way they approached their lashing.

Having said that, it brings up the topic of differences. The way these two bands approached their little Battle of the Bands here, has proven once again how different a band can be to another when the right personalities mix within it. One going the high road, one going the low road, it is truly something to behold, and I can tell you I want to follow this and see who comes out top dog.

Lastly, this Musical Brawl the two bands have going on is NO doubt going to SKY ROCKET their sales in general. Consumers LOVE a little rage and back-and-forth between bands, hell they want to FEEL that head-to-head flowing through their bodies when they listen to the tracks! So even though "Issues" and "Woe, Is Me" may not be seeing eye-to-eye and are going toe-to-toe, it will do wonders for their fans and only further each others' careers.

It reminds me of Yin and Yang, Fire and Water, Light and Dark: One cannot exist without the other, a sort of symbiotic relationship. It is truly remarkable to see Dislike and Anger turn around and help BOTH parties involved. It is true what they say, "It is a fine line between love and hate!" I cannot wait to see how their War both helps, and ends.
